Private Medical/Health Insurance

Some private health insurers cover the cost of acupuncture treatment.

I am a registered member of the Association of Acupuncture Clinicians (AAC) which is recognised by certain Private Health Insurers.  A current list of insurers can be found on the AAC website (using the link below).

Please check the guidance of your own individual plan prior to booking to ensure that they will cover the cost of your treatment.

What is cupping therapy?

Cupping therapy is an ancient holistic Chinese Medicine practice in which plastic or glass suction 'cups' are placed on the skin to stimulate the flow of Blood and Qi.  As well having a similar therapeutic effect to that of a deep tissue massage, other proven benefits of cupping include treating gastrointestinal issues, weakness in the whole body and supporting the nervous system.

At the Paris 2024 Olympics, dark circles were spotted on the bodies of some athletes, as it is commonly used in clinical practice to ease muscle tension, soreness and inflammation, as well as promote tissue cell repair for overworked muscles.

(Cupping therapy does not always leave these marks but it is common and they can last a few days!).

NADA Protocol

'...the beauty of the NADA protocol is in its simplicity. It is safe, efficient (and) effective...'  (NADA GB, 2022)

Although primarily developed to treat addiction and substance misuse, this auricular acupuncture therapy (up to five needles in each ear) is now used as an adjunct treatment approach for other health conditions to:

  • support mental-emotional well-being (by regulating the nervous system and promoting relaxation)
  • improve sleep patterns
  • strengthen particular organ systems (especially the Kidneys, Liver and Lungs)

In 2017 the NADA protocol was used to support the local community to treat those affected by the Grenfell Tower fire in London.
